GameDev as a Gateway to Tech Education: The 10th LTS GameDev Pitch Competition

The GameDev Competition is the first major event for LTS students. Over the course of 12 weeks, they work in teams to create their own video games. Every January for the past 10 years, LTS Level 1 students have stepped onto the stage to present a playable game to an expert jury. This year’s jury included Jacopo Armani, Gideon Gießelmann, Harry Ford, Jérôme Labbé, Matthieu Bracchetti, and Wesley Deglise.
GameDev was the first and core module of the LTS program designed 10 years ago by the LTS Founders. It remains the perfect playground for hands-on tech learning. Building a game gets quite technical, but it’s also fun and gives students a tangible result. After creating their own games, students gain the confidence to explore other technology fields.
As presentation day approaches, teams face a familiar challenge: last-minute bugs, unexpected issues, and the need for strong collaboration. According to LTS Coaches, good teamwork is built through clear communication and consistent effort throughout the weeks leading up to the final pitch.
The games presented featured a wide range of creative ideas and genres, from a sci-fi horror game set on the Moon, to a fast-paced cooking game, a yo-yo-wielding vampire, a shadow escaping a cave by avoiding light, and a shopping-cart drifting game.
The event was co-hosted by Lisa Burke and LTS Founder Dr. Sergio Coronado. We were joined by Playtiles, who supported this edition, alongside videogames.lu and the Luxembourg Video Game Association.
