10 Years of LTS! Founder Dr. Sergio Coronado Talks About How It All Started

Luxembourg Tech School (LTS) was founded 10 years ago, when Dr. Sergio Coronado, Ralph Marschall, Anush Manukyan and Christophe Trefois shared an ambitious vision: to give young students in Luxembourg the opportunity to discover technology by experimenting and creating their own tech projects.

In a special episode of The Lisa Burke Show, LTS Founder Dr. Sergio Coronado reflects on what inspired the creation of LTS and how his own experiences shaped the learning-by-doing approach that defines its programs.

*“What we do at Luxembourg Tech School comes down to a few key principles.
First, we give students broad exposure. We focus on technology, but across different domains: robotics, space, brain-computer interfaces, coding, AI, game development, financial technology. The goal is to let them discover what interests them and understand the range of opportunities that exist within tech.

Second, everything we do is about building. Instead of learning and then taking an exam, students create, build, and then demonstrate what they’ve made. For example, in GameDev they build their own video games. In FinTech, they develop applications. In Space Resources, they work on real projects connected to space initiatives.

Another important element is bringing them close to real professional tools and environments. We’re not trying to turn them into engineers in one and a half hours per week — that’s not the goal. We provide exposure to how the industry actually works. It’s a two-sided story: students get to experience the professional world, and the industry gets to see that young people are ready for the challenge.”*

All LTS programs are entirely free for students, made possible thanks to the support of ministries, institutions, and companies. LTS continues to welcome new partnerships that help reach even more young people across Luxembourg.
